Mercedes releases GLB concept, new small-sized SUV

The GLB design concept has been released at Shanghai Automobile Show, China.


Mercedes GLB shall be a medium-sized SUV model, lying in between two current product series of GLA and GLC. Mercedes GLB concept has a dimension of 4,634 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,900 mm high. With the 2,829mm wheelbase, it is likely that the German brand will equip its new SUV with the third seat row.

The new GLB model released at the ongoing Shanghai Automobile Show is equipped with BF Goodrich type with a set of 17-inch alloy wheels in two color tones, specialized for tough and dangerous off-road roads. The car head is designed in an angular way, two lateral bar shaped big grille, under which there is a big-sized air vent. The car uses Multibeam LED headlight in combination with positioning light strip.


In addition, GLB concept also offers a series of lights on car hood, for a combined purpose of goods carrying rack, in a Multi-terrain operational oriented vehicle. The car tail is designed in a square way, with sporty step bumper details, two big-sized chrome coated exhaust pipes.

Inside the car, its interior is combined between the main materials of leather with many wooden and aluminum decoration details. Seats and interior details are covered with nappa leather, orange colored decoration details. Wooden details are provided in the center console and the front dashboard… In addition, GLB is also equipped with dual displays, MBUX information-entertainment system of Mercedes, etc.


The second seat row is folded as per 40:20:40 scale, which can be adjusted to create more space for those sitting on the third seat row. The third seat row is designed backward a bit to increase leg space when needed, and can be folded when there is a need for luggage space.

The German brand provides GLB with a gasoline motor coded M260, whose volume is 2 liters with 4 cylinders for 224-horsepower capacity and 350-Nm twisted torment, together with a 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, full-time four wheel drive 4Matic. GLB has 3 operation modes including Eco/Comfort – drive normally with 80:20 (front drive-rear drive) force allocation, Sport - drive in a sport way with 70:30 force allocation and Off-road - 50:50 force allocation.
