Mercedes GLE 2019, new engine, additional

German brand SUV model has upgraded the design, provided more utilities, and used new technology engines.

According to Motor1, GLE 2019 is a luxury SUV with the most aerodynamic design in the segment with a wind resistance coefficient of 0.29, compared to 0.32 in the old version. The German carmaker extended the wheelbase by 80 mm to 2,995 mm, thus the legroom for the second row also increased by 69 mm, head space by 33 mm. GLE 2019 adds the third row option with two extra seats into the 5 + 2 version.

Mercedes GLE 2018 shall be launched at Paris Motor Show 2018.
Mercedes redesigns the car with a grille and fake air intake. The new style rim set is optional in dimension from 18-22 inches. The taillight cluster is slimmer than the current one. The interior is more spacious thanks to the increase of the wheelbase. Like the new A-class, GLE 2019 uses the latest MBUX infotainment system with two standard 12.3-inch screens.

Currently, Mercedes has only revealed the 450 4Matic version for GLE 2019, fitted with a new 3-liter 6-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine in line with 48V technology, which generates cacity of 362 horsepowers, maximum torque of 500 Nm. EQBoost function adds 21 horsepowers to the capacity and maximum torque of 250 Nm.

The car uses a 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission, combined with an electronically controlled multi-disc clutch, allowing torque transfer between axles, a useful feature when off-road.

GLE 2019 is equipped with the latest steering system of Mercedes, named E-Active Body Control. This system uses 48V power source combined with new air compressor suspension system. Suspensions and dampers are individually controlled on each wheel.

As planned, Mercedes GLE 2019 shall be launched at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. Luxury SUVs will be sold in the U.S. and Europe from early 2019. Vehicles are assembled at a factory in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA.
