Mercedes-Benz GLS 2020 with more technologies at more expensive prices

Being 5,050 USD more expensive than the current version, the new GLS450 price starts at 76,195 USD in the United States.

The twin-turbo V6 engine of the current GLS450 is replaced by an aligned 3.0-Liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine on the new model. The engine supports the hybrid system for smooth operation capacity.

Mercedes-Benz has not announced the selling price of the GLS580 (using V8 engine) but it will certainly be higher than the starting price of  96,745 USD of the current GLS550 (using the old 4.7L V8 engine).

The new cabin GLS450 is equipped with two 12.3-inch screens, significantly upgraded compared to the existing 7-inch screen of the current version. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard equipment with the new MBUX infotainment system of Mercedes, wireless charging, and Burmester premium surround sound system.

The new GLS450 has two options, including 6 seats and 7 seats. Specifically, the second row seats are equipped with large seats at no extra cost. The standard version features an electrically adjustable front seat, memory position and spinal support, as well as a 64-color internal lighting system and 115-volt power outlet.

A range of driver assistance features are additional standard equipment for the existing features in the current version. It is blind spot detection, self parking, 360-degree camera, warning of collision risk when getting out of the car, as well as features that have appeared on the 2019 model such as automatic emergency braking, pre-collision warning and warning of distracted driver.

Like the current version, the new GLS450 is equipped with a full-time four-wheel drive system and an air suspension system. The new upgrade includes Mercedes' adaptive suspension system E-Active Body Control, which allows the hybrid system to quickly adjust dampers based on the road surface data obtained from the front camera. This capability allows the car to operate smoothly and better adapt to different roads.

The vehicle can also jump up to help the driver escape muddy or sandy terrain. On GLE 2020, the E-Active Body Control feature will cost more 8,200 USD, it is more likely that GLS 2020 shall be similar.

Being more expensive than the current version, the new GLS450 now approaches the price of the new BMW X7 rival. Equipped with a 6-cylinder engine, the rival of the new GLS450 is 1,300 USD cheaper and is easy to add feature options.

The new GLS450 will be available at the United States Mercedes dealerships later this year. The new price of the GLS580 will be announced later.
