Mercedes-Benz ‘family relatives’ launches 1,200-horsepower supercar

In addition to honoring the stunning classic cars like Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Berlinetta Touring 1937, the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este Festival is also the place where automakers announce their concept or prototype projects before coming into production.

The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Festival this year marks the launch of the Austro Daimler concept model Bergmeister ADR 630 Shooting Grand. This model was created by Projekt Austro Daimler carmaker, in an effort to revive Austria's long-standing brand.

Austro Daimler is an Austrian automaker, operating from 1899 to 1934 as a subsidiary of Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft carmaker (Germany). Later, Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft changed its name to Daimler AG - Mercedes-Benz's flagship group.

As the carmaker has a relationship with Mercedes-Benz so there is no surprise when Bergmeister ADR 630 Shooting Grand (Bergmeister for short) possesses gullwing doors similar to Mercedes-Benz models. In fact, Bergmeister's door handles are also taken directly from the SLS AMG. That's not the only part of Mercedes-Benz that Bergmeister ''borrowed''. The concept also owns a 6-cylinder engine from the 4-door AMG GT 43 Coupe, while the windshield and the parachute system come from the AMG GT.

The rest of Bergmeister is developed by Projekt Austro Daimler itself. Bergmeister has a specially made aluminum chassis, while the body is a combination of aluminum and carbon fiber to deliver a perfect weight distribution of 50:50.

Bergmeister has a shooting brake styled car body design that has been gradually becoming more and more popular in recent times. The vehicle has respective dimensions of length-width-height which are 4,544 mm x 2,087 mm x 1,331 mm, while the wheelbase is 2,637 mm.

Besides gullwing styled doors, the exterior is also impressive with the long bonnet, the headlight cluster and the slender Matrix LED taillights and panoramic rear windows.

The design and engineering team run by Roland Stagl wanted to create a large-sized GT bearing the spirit of the legendary Austro-Daimler. Characteristics inheriting from the ''senior'' include original brand logo, double bubble form hood and luxury furniture.

Bergmeister uses the modern hybrid technology drive system. This engine system consists of 3 electric motors producing a capacity of 805 horsepowers and the above-mentioned 6-cylinder engine. After the combination, the Bergmeister drive system gives a total capacity of about 1,182 horsepowers and 1,600 Nm of torque.

A 55 kWh battery block and a 150 kW charger placed on the front wheel axle power the three electric motors. This battery block can provide power for a distance of 250 km in EV mode.

Owning nearly 1,200 horsepower hybrid drive system, this supercar can accelerate 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 330 km/h. With the parameters and values Bergmeister brings, the first one was sold immediately at the launching event. However, because this is a concept version so Projekt Austro Daimler wants to build some more samples before commercial production.
